PTTP: Who do you fight for

Paint the Town Pink isn’t just about raising money; it’s about fighting for loved ones and letting the world know.
This year, Paint the Town Pink organizers partnered with Mayo Clinic Health System — Austin and Albert Lea, to print off over 15,000 pink cards that read, “I fight for,” with a space underneath to write a name or word. The cards can be purchased for $1 at many local stores and are then hung up in windows. The money raised will go to the Hormel Institute’s cancer research.
Director of Austin’s Paint the Town Pink Kathi Finley said the cards have been popping up all over town.
“It’s been nice to see,” she said. “That’s a way, too, for everybody to participate in some way.”
The card campaign started a few weeks ago and will likely run through February. Mayo donated all of the printing costs, so everything raised will go directly to cancer research.
Finley was excited to bring more awareness to Paint the Town Pink but pointed out the efforts aren’t just for the Hormel Institute.
“It’s for everybody,” she said. “So people can write who they fight for on that card, and it’s just a symbol that somebody’s thinking about you and wants to fight for you.”
