Ten Austin students received scholarships during the ACCESS Scholarship Awards Banquet.

The students were recognized and received awards at the 29th annual ACCESS Scholarship Awards Banquet on Monday at the Hormel Historic Home. More than 60 people attended the event, hosted by the Austin Area Chamber’s Business Education Committee.

Eric Connett of Heartman Insurance served as master of ceremonies. Jaime Surdy, Ameriprise Financial — Davis, Thoen, Kramer & Associates, delivered the keynote address. Surdy was an ACCESS scholarship recipient in 2005. Scholarship recipients were selected from a pool of more than 100 applicants. Cash awards ranged from $200 to $1,500.

The ACCESS Scholarship program was established in 1988 by members of the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Since its inception, ACCESS has give more than $176, 000 in scholarships to more than 250 Austin students. Scholarship dollars are provided by chamber member business sponsorships. This year, 38 businesses contributed.

Eighth-grade

First Place: Maia Irvin, $500

Second Place: Connor Byram and Abigail Mueller, $375

Third Place: Morgan Hose, $250

Fourth Place: Owen Culbert and Sarah Bachmeier, $200

12th-grade

First Place: Bailey Mueller, $1500

Second Place: Natalie Sayles, $1,000

Third Place: Quinn Brunner and Alex Hansen, $750
