The No. 3 seeded Hayfield girls basketball team had its season come to an end in a 55-49 loss to No. 2 seeded Kenyon-Wanamingo (20-8 overall) in the Section 1AA West semifinals in Mayo Civic Center
in Rochester Tuesday.
The Vikings (19-8 overall) used a 7-0 run to take a 39-32 lead with 14:23 left in the game, but they couldn’t keep up that pace.
“We did a lot of things that we wanted to do defensively, but they got outside and made a couple of threes. That was kind of a turning point,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.
Hayfield had its season end on a loss to KW last year and the Vikings lost all three match ups with the Knights this season.
