Looking for warm weather and sunshine, but my husband and I returned recently from a driving trip south and we still are looking for more sunshine.
We stopped at various state welcome centers, to learn more about the area. This trip included visits to two presidential libraries — The William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas and the Lyndon B. Johnson Library in Austin, Texas. There is so much history and interest as you travel, it’s just another way to spend part of our vacation.
Our annual Coffee Party this past Friday confirmed for me folks are ready to make plans to enjoy some travel and outings soon. Out March newsletter has been sent to members and copies can be picked up on the south side of the Mower County Senior Center, under the canopied entrance. Travel is open to the public and all ages.
Here is a short list of some of the early travel plans we have:
•April 22: “Late Nite Catechism” at the Plymouth Playhouse
•May 13: St. Paul Gangster Tour and Wabasha Street Cave lunch, Eagan Mall
•June 4: Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum and Seed Savers Exchange, Decorah, Iowa
•June 24: “Damn Yankees” at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, in St. Paul.
•July 16: “South Pacific” at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, Albert Lea.
•July 29: “Mary Poppins” at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.
•August Mystery Trip: To be announced, but filling fast.
Our extended trip this fall will be a leafing trip to the New England states. Dates are Sept. 24 to Oct. 7.
This trip includes Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. A passport is needed. This is a popular tour which we have taken a couple times previously. Sign-up is going quickly.
In future articles, I will include the full schedule of trips. It is encouraged to sign-up soon as there is lot of interest.
Winners of our travel certificates from the Open House are: Mary Ann Davis, Yvonne Spindler, and Joyce Jones.
