Robert G. Snell (Bob), 87, of McHenry, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 21, 2014, of respiratory failure.
Robert George Snell was born May 7, 1927, to George B. and Esther Johnson Snell of Austin, Minnesota. He married Joan Sandte of Rochester, Minnesota, and they moved to Chicago in 1951.
He was schooled as a draftsman and worked in sales for Motorola for more than 20 years. He resided in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, for 30 years before moving to McHenry. During retirement he took pride in landscaping and mowing his acre residence and enjoyed the game of golf.
A World War II veteran, his service was recently recognized by the VFW where a photo appeared in the local Herald. He was fit and an avid walker, loving the outdoors, walking a 1/2 mile routinely before his death.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Joan; daughter Renee Turetsky; son Robert S. Snell; and son-in-law Robert F. He was the loving grandfather of Karli B. Snell.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Hope and Ann. His sister Dona resides near Austin.
There will be a memorial service May 7, 2015, at Sumner Center Cemetery near Spring Valley.
