“[It] quickly spread throughout the entire structure,” Austin Fire Chief Jim McCoy said.

Property damage was estimated at around $100,000, according to McCoy.

No one was injured.

The Austin and Brownsdale Fire Departments responded around 12:20 p.m. to the fire at 27154 540th Ave. in Lansing.

Smoke could be seen from Austin during the fire’s peak, and a steady stream of cars clogged the 540th Avenue and 270th Street intersection as onlookers drove by to get a look at the blaze.

Firefighters weren’t able to get enough water from nearby hydrants, so tankers continually brought water in.

The state fire investigator arrived on scene by around 2 p.m. when firefighters were looking for hotspots.

“The roof collapsed; we have one of the guys in the owner’s skid loader,” McCoy said shortly after 2 p.m.. “We’re actually pulling everything out of the structure right now so we can get to the hotspots.”

Antique tractors, tires and other farm equipment were in the shed. A garage and home on the property were not damaged, but a second shed connected to the garage was damaged.
