The Lyle-Pacelli baseball team received a boost from an eighth grader as it squeaked past Alden-Conger 5-4 in eight innings in Marcusen Park Thursday.
Bryce Strouf, an eighth grader, made a run saving, diving catch in center field for the third out of the top of the eighth inning and he gave LP (2-0 overall) the win when he delivered a walk-off RBI single on a two strike pitch in the bottom of the eighth.
“Bryce did everything we asked of him tonight, that catch was something special and couldn’t have came at a bigger time,” LP head coach Brock Meyer said. “He has been asked to step in probably a little sooner than anyone thought but it just shows his maturity and his abilities to make plays.”
