Frankford Township will soon get a new business — a dry fertilizer factory.
CHS Inc. plans to expand their operations with a plant in Frankford Township on a 20-acre parcel. The Mower County Board of Commissioners approved a conditional use permit for the site Tuesday.
CHS representatives say the seven agricultural communities they serve in southern Minnesota have come to need more fertilizer and the new plant will help meet those needs.
The plant will be located near County Road 14. Representatives say fertilizer will be moved inside an encased location. If all goes well, construction will start this fall and the plant will open in fall 2016.
