Institute gives out science awards

Students received The Hormel Institute’s Outstanding Science Research Awards last week after being selected by Institute scientist judges during this year’s Austin Public Schools science fair. After the award presentation, the students and their families toured the Institute.

Outstanding Science Research Awards

•Blake VanPelt, a third-grader at Banfield Elementary School, was awarded for his project titled “Geology.”

•Jacob Herrick, Owen Carroll and Joe Ewing – fourth-graders from Southgate Elementary School – won an award for their “Liver Life” project.

•Olivia Johnson, a sixth-grader at I.J. Holton Intermediate School, received an award for her “Less is Molar” project.

•Jolynn La, a fifth-grader from I.J. Holton, was awarded for her “Soda and Eggs” project.
