Mower County will soon have extra security for jail inmates.
The Mower County Board of Commissioners approved security paneling for the Mower County Jail and Justice Center during a public meeting Tuesday.
The paneling, which will be installed along the second tier of cells as well as the upper part of the stairs in a cell block, will help prevent inmates from injuring themselves by jumping from the second story.
“Our Peter Pan impostors won’t be able to get through this,” Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi told the board Tuesday.
The board approved spending about $78,000 for the paneling.
