Meda McCloud, 89, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at her home.
Meda Rachel Miner was born Sept. 8, 1925, to Ray and Mary Iona (Stites) Miner in Clear Lake, Iowa. She was a 1944 graduate of Austin High School in Austin, Minnesota. On Jan. 17, 1948, Meda was united in marriage to William “Bill” McCloud in Austin. When Meda wasn’t busy being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, and making jams and jellies. She was a member of the Birthday Club and Legion Auxiliary and served as chairman of the Township United Way for many years. Meda loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open with her cookie jar always full of chocolate-chip cookies.
Meda is survived by her children: Jerry (CeCe) McCloud of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Vickie (Curtis) Davis of Bernice, Oklahoma, Billy (Kay) McCloud of LeRoy, Minnesota, Randy (Vicki) McCloud of LeRoy, Minnesota, Kristie (Dennis Hammon) Kraft of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Timothy (Corrine) McCloud of Hutchinson, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings: Marvin (Pat) Miner of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Morris (Grace) Miner of Winona, Minnesota, Mary Mortenson of Kasson, Minnesota, Merryelle Whiteaker of Dexter, Minnesota, Merrideth (Shirley) Miner of Hayfield, Minnesota, and Milda Lou (Dave) Weness of Adams, Minnesota; and sister-in-law, Marlene Miner of Stewartville, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary; husband, Bill; grandchildren: Cheryl Davis and Michael Miles; son-in-law Steve Kraft; and siblings: Maynard Miner, Morna Ruth (Bill) Sathre, and Merrit Miner.
Funeral services for Meda McCloud will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
