Anton Peter ‘Bud’ Dammen, 82

Anton Peter “Bud” Dammen, 82, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday morning, May 26, 2015, at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.

He was born May 24, 1933, to Lee and Agnes (Sand) Dammen in Lanesboro, Minnesota. He graduated from Austin High School in 1953 and married Joan Hemmer on May 29, 1954, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Bud joined the Navy on March 21, 1956, serving in the Seabees. After his honorable discharge on Nov. 29, 1957, he returned to Austin where he went to work for the city of Austin in the sign department. After 37 years, Bud retired in 1997. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, he enjoyed boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, camping and model cars.

Survivors include two sons: Steven (Jennifer) Dammen of Austin, Michael (Renee Thies) Dammen of Hollandale; four grandchildren: James, Jessica, Michelle and Kyle; one great-grandson, Conner Dammen; brother, David (Diane) Dammen of Austin; sister-in-law, Connie Dammen of Rochester; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2006; his parents; a grandson, Kevin Dammen; two brothers: Arnold and Douglas.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery in Austin with military honors by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216. Services were pre-planned with Worlein Funeral Home of Austin in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
