Donna Jean Nybo, 71, of Austin, Minnesota, died unexpectedly, May 1, 2015, at her home.

She was born Aug. 4, 1943, to Clarence and Thelma (Shervem) Nybo in Austin. Donna graduated from Austin High School, Austin Junior College and Mankato State University with a degree in art education. Her teaching career began in Slayton, Minnesota, and then Robbinsdale, Minnesota. She moved briefly to Colorado and returned to Minnesota and had a variety of jobs before becoming an admissions advisor at the Austin Vocational Technical Institute. In 1995, she was able to return to her true love, teaching art, when she accepted a position with the LeRoy and Lyle school districts. Donna was teaching in the Southland School District when she retired in June of 2009. Donna’s life was teaching and her students. They were family to her.

Donna is survived by her sister, Linda (Donald) Lenz; and nieces and nephews: Anthony (Kira) Arndt, Angela (Joseph) Winkler, Lonnie (Holly) Arndt, Laura Lenz, and Matt (Kim) Lenz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Thelma Nybo, whom she missed dearly.

Private family services are planned. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Mower County Humane Society and the Historic Paramount Theatre.
