Evelyn E.A. Baum, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday evening, May 22, 2015, at Our House Senior Living in Austin.
Evelyn Ella Amanda was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Toeterville, Iowa to Henry and Hulda (Perau) Decklever. Evelyn was a graduate of Lyle High School. On Oct. 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to George Christopher Baum at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle. Evelyn and George resided near Lyle before making their home and raising their family in Austin. Over the years she was active in the Austin Eagles Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. In her younger days, Evelyn loved fishing for bullhead. She enjoyed embroidering, playing bingo, following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, an occasional trip with her son Jerry to the casino, and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jerry (Cheryl) Baum of Wabasha, Minnesota, Dianne Yauger of Austin, and Neil (Nancy) Baum of Ponchatoula, Lousianna; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George on July 20, 1987; grandson Stephen and great granddaughter Carissa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Chaplain Scott Nobbe officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Toeterville, Iowa.
