Local dentists are doing everything they can to make people smile.

A team at Drs. Peter Green and Bobee Hyland and several employees attended the 13th annual Townie Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, hosted by Dentaltown.com — the world’s largest online dental community. The annual event focuses on education and an opportunity for team-building and networking with other dental professionals.

Dental professionals must participate in continuing education to meet the Board of Dentistry licensure requirements.

“I have learned about many major advancements in dentistry through my continuing education courses,” Dr. Green said in a press release. “Several decades ago I learned about high speed handpieces and tooth-colored fillings. Today we learn about 3-D imaging and using lasers to treat gum disease.”

Drs. Elrod, Green and Hyland have used lasers for periodontal treatment (gum disease) for over five years.

One week after returning from the meeting the team attended the Minnesota Dental Associations 2015 Star of the North Meeting in St. Paul. This meeting offered the team several hands-on courses; the hygiene team hands-on course focused on incorporating lasers into dental hygiene procedures and the doctors hands-on course focused on implant dentistry, a service that’s been provided at Elrod, Green and Hyland for over seven years.
