Plenty of opportunities to take in May arts

Whether you like listening to it, seeing it, or doing it yourself, there’s plenty of art to be had at the Paramount Theatre and ArtWorks Center in the next couple of weeks.
Mother’s Day weekend will bring plenty with it, as the Northwestern Singers will be closing out their season with “Bach to Rock” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 9.
NWS is always a fan favorite, so be sure to get your tickets early (grab yours at austinareaarts.org or the ArtWorks Center).
Moms and dads will also have a unique opportunity to celebrate Mom’s Day, as we’ll be holding a special edition of our Family Paint class on May 9 at 10 a.m.
Space is limited, so sign up early.
The ArtWorks Center will also be hosting a closing reception for Diane Crane — free and open to the public — from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Crane’s watercolor has graced our walls for the last six weeks, and we’ll be sad to see her go.
Excited too, though, as Joan Finnegan and Lora Lee Bauer will be picking up where she left off with their own shows and an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday.
Be sure to stop by one or both of these receptions to chat with the artists and catch up with your fellow art lovers. We’d love to say hello, too.
The ArtWorks Center is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Buy tickets and sign up for classes at the Center or online at austinareaarts.org.
