Senior center, Mayer offering planning series

Published 12:45 pm Sunday, May 17, 2015

Mayer Funeral Home is sponsoring a six-month series at the Mower County Senior Center called “Our Family Matters.”

People are invited to attend individual programs or all the programs. An overview of the six months are as follows:

May: Join us for 90 minutes of education, humor, answers to your questions and delicious pizza. We will start things off with a short program, “10 things you probably didn’t know about funerals and cremation” and then we’ll open things up to your questions for the remainder of the time together.

June: Planning guide workshop (an in depth look at your Thoughtful Decisions Planning Guide); also a feature on Advance Health Care Directives.

July: Focus groups with sessions available in the afternoon and early evening.

We are looking for your input on ways Mower County Senior Center and Mayer Funeral Home can better serve you. We have secured an outside consultant who will lead these focus groups so you can feel free to speak freely about anything on your mind.

August: A unique and special program centered around travel, with a presentation from a guest sharing about a recent trip. Also we will have information on a travel protection plan.

September: Everything you wanted to know about Body Donation to Science. Follow up with presentation and discussion regarding funeral options specifically related to donation.

October: A special speaker relating to grief and healing after a loved one has died.

These programs are all free to attend. We ask that you sign up ahead of time for planning purposes. To sign up please call Mayer Funeral Home at 507-433-1817 or stop by the senior center front desk or call 507-433-2370.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having spaghetti hotdish for only $2.
