A 20-year-old is in jail and a Playstation 4 is safe after Austin police thwarted an attempted burglary Tuesday afternoon.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said officers arrested the suspect and his 17-year-old accomplice after a witness reported the two had broken into a home at the 100 block of 13th Street Northeast at about 4:46 p.m. Tuesday.
The 20-year-old allegedly broke into the home through a screen door to steal the game console while the 17-year-old acted as a lookout. No one was inside the house at the time.
The two tried to run from the scene and were caught a short time later. A witness identified both of the suspects as well.
The 20-year-old was taken to the Mower County Jail while the 17-year-old was turned over to his parents, according to Krueger. Krueger said the suspects allegedly broke inside to get the PS4, which they left at the home once officers arrived.
