Fairy gardens

You may have come to the fairy garden class last year, heard or seen a fairy garden. At 2 p.m. on Wednesday is your chance to see how to make one.

This fun demonstration will be by Jen from Dolan’s. She will have items available for purchase including your very own fairy garden. These are adorable and fit in your garden or in your house. To register for this fun class stop by or call the Senior Center Front desk at 507-433-2370.

A dose of history

Most of us in this area come from European backgrounds, and our family names can be traced back hundreds of years if we go back to the old countries. Further back than four centuries, however, there were few written records, and so the materials available to us today are usually in the form of church records or military documents.

Thursday, the Historical Society will be back at the Senior Center.

“In this presentation I’ll talk about what we can learn about family histories from these types of sources, and one fascinating source in particular, the Soldier Rolls of the English Exchequer between the years 1337 and 1453,” said John A. Haymond, executive director, Mower County Historical Society. Everyone is welcome to attend please call the Senior Center to sign up for this fun historical event.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having tator tot hotdish for only $2.
