Best Bets: Fresh air for the weekend fun

Hear the wind in a new way and look at food like never before this weekend while making clay wind chimes and eating breakfast at a local farm. With the LeRoy Farmer’s Market grand opening, a great day for golf on Friday and a lot of cows to look at, there’s no shortage of sunshine and fresh air this weekend.
1. LeRoy Farmers’ Market grand opening
4-7 p.m., Thursday, LeRoy corner of Main Street and Broadway
The grand opening of the LeRoy Farmers’ Market will be on the corner of Main Street and Broadway. Get ready for a night of fresh food and great finds.
2. Pacelli Hall of Fame Golf Day
12-9 p.m., Friday, MeadowGreen GolfCourse/St. Edwards Corcoran Center
Pacelli Catholic Schools will host its annual Hall of Fame Golf Day on Friday. Golfing will begin with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. at Meadow Greens Golf Course. Afterward there will be a banquet to induct the 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees. This will take place at St. Edward’s Corcoran Center beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the induction ceremony. The 2015 Pacelli Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are Jerry Allen, Jim Stolzenberg, Laura Lukes Probst, Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, Dave Rockers, Kathy Quinn Hennesey and Leon Zender.
3. 2015 Northern Regional Simmental Junior Classic Show
All day, Thursday and Friday, Mower County Fairgrounds
The 2015 Northern Regional Simmental Junior Classic Show continues Thursday and Friday at the Mower County Fairgrounds. Organizers said this year’s show attracted 177 participants and a record 312 Simmental cattle. For more information, call 507-433-1868.
4. Mower County Breakfast on the Farm
8-11:30 a.m, Saturday, Troy and Chris Sukalski Farm, 13698 755th Ave., LeRoy
The Sukalski family will host the 10th annual Breakfast on the Farm near LeRoy. Breakfast on the Farm is an annual event meant to show people how their food is made and where their dairy and other products come from. There will be a full breakfast of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. The cost is $3 per person, ages 6 and under are free, and the family rate is $12. Activities include farm tours, a scavenger hunt, a petting zoo and more. The event is sponsored by Mower County Farm Bureau in cooperation with many supporting organizations and businesses throughout Mower County.
5. Clay Wind Chimes
1-3 p.m., Saturday, Austin ArtWorks Center, 300 Main Street North
