Karen E. Costa, 71

Karen E. Costa, 71, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away June 2, 2015, after a brief hospitalization at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.
She was born in Denver, Colorado, on Jan. 13, 1944. Being raised in Austin, she graduated from Pacelli High School in 1962. Karen was fortunate enough to have realized her childhood dreams of working in the travel industry and having the ability to travel the world over.
Karen moved to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1972 and later resided in St. Petersburg, Florida. Karen met the love of her life in 1983, John Gibson, while both were attending a travel trade show as cruise ship sales representatives. Upon retirement, Karen moved to Cathlamet, Washington, John’s birthplace, in 1996. Karen loved Cathlamet’s beauty and people, and felt blessed to have had 19 wonderful years in Cathlamet.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents John and Elizabeth “Betty” Costa; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Karen is survived by John Gibson, Cathlamet, Washington; sister Barbara Francis (Delwin) of Denver, Colorado; brothers: John Costa of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Dr. Joseph C. Costa (Jane) of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Karen was a beautiful person, devoted daughter, loving sister, treasured partner, and welcoming friend. Karen will be missed by all who knew and loved Karen, sweet Karen.
A memorial service was held on Sunday June 7, 2015, at St. Catherian’s Catholic Church, Cathlamet, Washington.
