MINNEAPOLIS — The mother of a teenage shooting victim has been awarded his honorary high school diploma in Minneapolis.
A tearful Angela Steverson was given the degree from Edison High School on behalf of her only son, 17-year-old Nehemiah Steverson, Wednesday night at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The teen was shot and killed in Minneapolis on June 1, 2014. KSTP-TV reports the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says there’s no evidence to show the shooting was anything more than an accident.
Principal Carla Steinbach says Nehemiah was like one of her own and that students wanted to honor his family on the night he would have graduated
