According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, the 17-year-old girl was sitting inside a friend’s vehicle outside of Casey’s, 1702 12th St. SW, with the car door open when two dark shadows approached from behind the building after the store’s lights had been shut off to close. The girl told police both men were holding knives. The two men — wearing dark, baggy clothes and face masks — approached the 17-year-old, and one told her to get out of the vehicle. After she didn’t move, one grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the vehicle. She screamed for help and both men took off running to the southwest across the Faith Church grounds.

Police stayed with the girl and Casey’s employees in the store and walked them to their vehicles after the store closed. About five officers also searched the area for the suspects, even using thermal imaging equipment.

The victim described the suspects as two possibly white men, as she could see around the eye holes in the masks — one about 5 feet 9 inches tall, the other taller, and both with medium builds.

There are no suspects at this time.
