Trace Bundy returns to Austin

Everyone’s favorite ninja will soon return to the Paramount.
Bundy is a fingerstyle guitarist whose ability to turn popular and classic tunes into veritable symphonies has earned him not only a great nickname, but also awards from the likes of Acoustic Guitar Magazine (“Best Fingerstyle Guitarist”) and gigs at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Trace Bundy is no stranger to Austin — he’s yet another fantastic musician to come out of our community, having spent his formative years here. And he hasn’t been a stranger since moving as a kid, either; you may have seen him around as recently as last August, when he performed at the ArtWorks Festival.
The performance was pretty standard for Bundy; by which I mean, of course, that it was anything but. By using harmonics, looping, and multiple capos, “The Acoustic Ninja” surrounds himself with an orchestra of distinct echoes. The layers of sound build upon each other, their creator stacking them higher and higher until the listener can no longer keep track of what Bundy is actually playing and what is simply the ghost of music past.
Catch Bundy at the Paramount on June 13 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Students can see the show for $5. Grab yours by visiting us online at austinareaarts.org or by stopping into the ArtWorks Center.
