An Austin native will return with her string quartet in tow this Friday to perform at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.
Amber Dolphin, daughter of nature center Director/Naturalist Larry Dolphin, will perform with the Pecatonica String Quartet and play everything from Bach to classic rock.
“I think people will be truly amazed by the quality and diversity of the music they play,” Julie Champlin, nature center assistant said.
The concert will also be a fundraiser to raise money for Alzheimer’s research in honor of Don Deines. Free will donations will be accepted.
“As friends [of Dienes], we thought it’d be cool to have a musical program [in his honor],” Champlin said. “So many people are affected by Alzheimer’s.”
Three free programs will be held throughout the day. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a senior special concert where refreshments will be provided. A family/children’s concert will be held at 1 p.m., and an evening performance will take place at 7 p.m.
The group is based in Madison, Wisconsin, and has played at more than 200 concerts and weddings since it formed in 2008. They performed at the nature center several years ago and drew a large crowd, according to Champlin.
“It’s so fun and lively,” she said. “They really are top notch performers.”
Call 437-7519 or email info@hormelnaturecenter.org to RSVP.
“Everyone is welcome to come enjoy this entertaining program,” Champlin said.
