Lucy Otto was all smiles when she was crowned Little Miss Sparkler at Bandshell Community Park on Friday.
“I feel really good about it,” Otto, 7, said.
For Otto, the Little Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker pageant helped her conquer her fear of singing in front of people.
“My mom made me sing, and I’m so thankful she did,” she said.
Kolyn Amick Ruhter, 7, was named Mr. Firecracker and felt “very good” about the honor.
About 25 children ages 5-8 participated in the fourth annual contest. They displayed talents ranging from hula hooping and singing to sign language and performing with nunchucks.
