The Blooming Prairie football team didn’t have its offense rolling, but it was able to hold off Rushford-Peterson 8-6 to open its season in BP Saturday.
The Trojans (0-1 overall) had the ball in the red zone twice with a chance to take the lead and BP was able to keep them from scoring.
“It was definitely a defensive battle,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said. “Both teams probably came out of it thinking we need to work on offense. It was a good first game victory.”
The Awesome Blossoms (1-0 overall) took an 8-0 lead when Lucas Noble hit Anthony Nelson for an 11-yard touchdown pass and Jon Hatch ran in the two point conversion.
BP passing: Lucas Noble, 9-for-18, 88, 1 TD, 3 INT
BP receiving: Anthony Nelson, 4-for-54, TD; Jon Hatch, 2-for-14; Marten Morem, 1-for-14
BP rushing: Noble, 17-for-76; Jon Hatch, 6-for-21
