Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the owners of stolen collectibles found in Mason City, Iowa.

Much of the collection was sports memorabilia.

Much of the collection was sports memorabilia.

Sheriff Terese Amazi said Iowa law enforcement retrieved stolen property from a storage locker search in Mason City several weeks ago, which included most of the valuable collectibles stolen from two Austin residents in late May.

In that robbery, the stolen goods included a Kirby Puckett baseball card that police reports state was worth $1,500; a set of cards from the 1967 Minnesota Twins team, including a signed Tony Oliva card, worth $6,500; more than $3,500 worth of football cards including a 1997 Green Bay Packers set of cards; and more than $2,500 in collectible car statues, which included model cars from “The Dukes of Hazzard” and NASCAR statues.

Yet deputies have found other collectibles, including various comics, car collectibles and sports memorabilia, which may belong to area residents.

“These owners may not realize that their storage lockers have been broken into,” Amazi said.

Amazi encourages residents to check their storage units for missing memorabilia and contact area law enforcement to report anything stolen.
