Bob, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at his home in the arms of his wife Jeanette and his youngest son Patrick.

His long, enduring battle with cancer ended his life at the age of 66 years. There was never a doubt in his mind where his final resting place would be. He now rests in the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ, who will present him to his Father in Heaven.

Bob was a man of integrity, a quiet man but when he spoke others listened. He had a very dry sense of humor, was a leader expecting the best from others and expecting the best of himself, a lover of golf, anytime anywhere (good shot Bob), and he cared for others but never complained throughout his almost seven years of cancer treatments. He loved the nurses and staff of the Baylor Scott and White Oncology floor, who treated him with kindness and respect. His oncologist was Dr. Kathleen Halka, who worked hard to keep him with us as long as possible but was forthright with him so he knew what was going on. He took scripture seriously, treating others as he would want to be treated. He was a servant to many and looked after those under his care — his family, co-workers and friends.

Born and raised in Austin, Minnesota, he expanded his horizons by attending colleges in Minnesota, serving in the Army, and culminating at the University of Tennessee with a PHD in Audiology. He started and ended his career at the VA Hospital in Temple Texas with a short stint in private practice, always looking after those he cared for. He served his church in many capacities, sharing his gift of administration.

He leaves behind his wife Jeanette, partner, friend and lover of 45 years; his oldest son Joseph, wife Mary Kathryn and treasured granddaughter Elizabeth of Apex, North Carolina; his youngest and beloved son Patrick of Austin, Texas; his close-knit family from Austin, Minnesota, including sister Barbara Felton, husband John of Rose Creek, Minnesota: sister Marjorie Peterson; brother Jack Dunlop and wife Marlys; sister Nancy Reed and husband Cliff; brother James Dunlop; brother Thomas Dunlop and wife Lisa; and sister Deborah Horejsi and husband Clarence of Owatona, Minnesota.

Services were held at 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Immanuel Prince of Peace, Belton, Texas, with internment at 2 p.m. at the Central Texas Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A visitation was held Sunday evening, Aug. 23, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in his name to:  Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scott and White Vasicek Cancer Center, or to a scholarship fund for audiologists in training set up by his friends. Broecker Funeral Home in Salado was in charge of arrangements.
