Austin head cross country coach Tony Einertson was recently named Minnesota Cross Country Coach of the year for Class AA girls for the year 2014 at the 2015 Minnesota Coaches Clinic.
Last season, the Packer girls earned their first ever state meet appearance as a team and they won their second straight Big Nine title.
Einertson, who has coached the Packers for 17 seasons, said winning the award had a lot to do with the hard work his athletes put in.
“I just kind of laid down the training plan and they’re the ones who have to pull it off. They did it and I was along for the ride,” Einertson said. “It’s quite an honor to be named the AA coach of the year.”
Austin’s girls cross country will return its entire varsity this season this year.
