WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar has gone all-in for Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate — a year before delegates hold their nominating convention in Philadelphia and with the election still 15 months away.

She endorsed Clinton early this year, and has been on the campaign trail for her at times since then.

And even though the presumptive Democratic nominee is facing ethical questions on several fronts and her trustworthy numbers are more unfavorable than favorable, the senior Minnesota U.S. senator is not wavering in her support.

“They have to investigate these things,” Klobuchar said recently in a telephone interview, referring to questions about whether a private server Clinton had as secretary of state contained confidential government emails and hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to the Clinton Foundation from foreign governments and individuals.

Do you trust her?

“Yes,” Klobuchar said.

However, that puts Klobuchar in the minority of Americans in polling on Clinton’s favorable/unfavorable ratings. The most recent average of many polls on Clinton put her at 48.1 percent unfavorable and 41.8 percent favorable.
