Superintendent David Krenz hopes to find ways to help promote Austin Public Schools and the good things it’s doing over this school year.
That is one of four goals he set and explained to the Austin Public Schools board at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday afternoon as a part of a new goal-setting system for superintendents.
“It’s quite a bit different than what we’ve done in the past, but I think it’s going to be really helpful and be really beneficial to our superintendent and our board,” board Chair Angie Goetz said during the meeting.
The Minnesota School Board Association and the Minnesota Superintendents Association created a new goals-based review for superintendents, which means about this time every year, Krenz will be reviewed on how he met the goals he set at the beginning of the year. The board first discussed this new process in January and adopted the plan to move forward.
Krenz’s goals for this first year included: understanding the organizational systems through the continued involvement with Baldridge and Lean Six Sigma; involving stakeholders in continuing the calendar and start time working group; finding ways to promote a positive image of the schools and school district, specifically through improvement in the district website, social media tools, and by providing stakeholders critical information and data; and by being able to use technology to support instruction.
“Everything else put aside, these are highlighted areas that as a district we’re looking at also to look at what’s important for the school district,” Krenz told the board.
