Letter: Parents, know where your children are

Attention people of Austin, Minnesota, are you tired of what is going on in Austin?

I know that I am and I will tell you why. It is what I saw. What I saw was a child being beaten on by what is called a gang beat-in. I called the police and told them about four or five people were beating on one person. The person was on the ground and was kicked. His chest and back were all red, there was a scratch mark on his neck and he was kicked in the kidneys.

There was a woman down the street that just watched. Did not do one thing to stop it. So now this child can go out and sell the street drugs.

People of Austin, you need to watch out for our children and know where they are at. You need to know and make sure that there is an adult around and if that is an adult that will keep your child safe. You need to make sure there’s an adult at the home and know that adult.

Austin was never like this before. Parents knew the home their child or children were to going. What happened?

Let’s watch out for these kids. That means everyone. Austin people, if you are working, ask someone who lives by to watch. It’s not that hard if everyone works together.

Let’s get Austin cleaned up and get rid of the gangs. Remember the song “We’re Not Gonna Take It?”

Austin stand up for your children! Together and that means everyone as a whole, block parties, neighbors getting to know each other and block watches.

Sharon Lee,

Austin
