An Albert Lea man was arrested at the Mower County Fair Sunday for trying to pass counterfeit money at a food stand.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said deputies questioned the man about several fake $20 bills he tried to use at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday. The suspect allegedly told police he received that money from a different vendor, but deputies found several more counterfeit bills in the man’s wallet.

The suspect had about $340 in counterfeit bills, some of them with the same serial number. The U.S. Department of the Treasury issues different serial numbers for each bill.
