Mystery trip revealed on the tracks

How long has it been since you’ve taken a train ride?
Well, the folks on our mystery trip last week answered our question. The Boone Scenic Valley Railroad, in Boone, Iowa, was our destination. This classic, 1950 vintage train with a touch of elegance, was made ours.
This two-and-a-half hour ride, traveling about 25 miles an hour, crossed the Des Moines high bridge and river and also the Bass Point Creek high bridge. Besides the conductor there were two young servers waiting on us as we enjoyed a fine meal during the ride.
It was a touch of elegance in climate-controlled comfort. It was a higher level of comfort, perhaps unlike some earlier train rides we may remember. Linen table cloths and napkins along with velvet curtains added to the charm of our coach.
We also enjoyed a rest stop at the Community Flower Gardens in Clear Lake, Iowa. Strolling through the gardens enjoying kolaches, a Czech pastry and a beverage, was a great way to begin our day.
Just one person came close to guessing our destination.

There are always more places to go and things to see.
