On Friday, three communities in Mower County and Fillmore County will have interrupted phone service while repairs will be done to the phone lines between 2 and 5 a.m.
The work will affect phones services in Grand Meadow and Racine in Mower County, and Wykoff in Fillmore County.
The interruption will affect service to phone lines that have the following prefixes: 507-754, 507-378, 507-352 and cell phones if used in this area.
There will be times when there will only be local calling service to phones that have the same prefixes as the one they are calling from. During this time if emergency service from law enforcement, fire or medical is needed and phones cannot get through on 911, the following local numbers have been set up that can be dialed from local phones that have the same prefixes as the one they are calling from.
Grand Meadow number is 507-754-5150, Racine is 507-378-2931 and Wykoff is 507-352-4011.
All three numbers will have emergency personnel standing by to take calls and will be able to relay information by radio to appropriate agencies. It is not anticipated that the repairs will take the full three hours but help will be available to those that need it.
