ST. PAUL — Another medical marijuana manufacturer in Minnesota is offering a discount amid criticism by patients about the high cost of the cannabis medicine.
Minnesota Medical Solutions on Thursday said it would offer a 50 percent discount on a patient’s first visit if they’re paying the state Department of Health registration fee along with the cost of the medicine. And for its current patients, the company says it will implement a point program based on their purchase amount. The points can be used to reduce the cost of future medicine.
The discount plan follows a similar move earlier this week by LeafLine Labs. It announced a discount for patients buying a month’s supply of medicine.
Executives from both companies have acknowledged the high prices can be difficult for many patients and vowed to cut costs as the program grows.
