Man died at the scene; no threat to the public

ALBERT LEA — Police are investigating after a man died from an apparent gunshot wound in Albert Lea Thursday morning.

According to a news release, police were dispatched to a report of a medical on the 1500 block of Academy Avenue. Upon arrival, police found a male victim with a gunshot wound. Lifesaving attempts were unsuccessful, and the man died.

Police said they are investigating and there do not appear to be any threats to the public.

Police have not yet released the name of the man.

Gold Cross Ambulance crews, the Albert Lea Fire Department, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting.

The house was taped off with police tape this morning.
