The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce is again looking to connect new residents.
Awesome Austin returns Thursday with a series of three events designed to showcase Austin and better connect them to the community. Each of the three events aim to introduce newcomers to each other, community leaders and major aspects of the community. There is no charge to participate.
“Attending Awesome Austin events is a great way for newcomers to meet other people,” said Community Concierge Kristen Olson in a press release. “Plus the events are fun.”
Whether newcomers have been in Austin for a week or for two years, they’ll likely learn something about the community and connect with other newcomers. Past events have included attending an Austin Bruins’ game, having some trail fun at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, and more.
Awesome Austin is part of AustinWorks, a new welcoming service created to introduce and connect new employees and their families to Austin.
As Community Concierge, Olson provides direct, personal assistance to newly employed professionals and their families, assisting them with housing, employment for the trailing spouse and connections to all family interests.
The program was developed through the Business Friendly Committee of Vision 2020 and is funded by the Hormel Foundation and major employers.
