Donations needed for fall book sale

The Friends of the Austin Public Library is gearing up for the area’s annual Fall Used Book Sale.
The sale to the general public is Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The $5 bag sale is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. that Saturday.
Funds raised will provide the Austin Public Library with new programs and materials. Recently, the Friends provided $3,500 for the summer reading program. Chairperson Peggy Keener and the Friends of the Library have worked hard to sort book donations for the sale. The public is asked to bring donations of gently used books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and audio books to the library from Sept. 26 to Oct. 6. Textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, and musty or damaged materials will not be excepted. Donations can be placed on the tables by the meeting rooms.
Stop at the front desk to become a member of the Friends of the Library. The cost is $10 per year per household. Members only will be admitted to the Used Book Sale pre-sale on Oct. 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memberships for the Friends of the Library are aways available at the front desk. The $10 membership provides the newsletter and entrance to the pre-sale at the fall book sale (there is no pre-sale in the spring) and supports library programs. To volunteer, please call Milly Burroughs at 433-1737 to sort books before the sale or to work at the sale.
