The Austin boys soccer team was on the verge of a win, but it had to settle for a 3-3 tie at Rochester John Marshall (3-4-2 overall, 3-1-2 Big Nine) Tuesday.
The Packers (4-2-3 overall, 2-2-2 Big Nine) took a 3-2 lead when Matias Parada scored a goal with 28 seconds left of the first overtime. The Rockets tied things up at 3-3 when they tipped in a long throw-in with 40 seconds left of the second OT.
Sean Baker and Ochan Ochogo scored Austin’s other two goals.
“The players really played well,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “They moved the ball around well and they challenged the ball. Things that should’ve went well, went well. That’s kind of the nature of our game. You can do things well and still end up with a tie.”
The Packers, who have played their last five games on the road, will host Red Wing 7 p.m. Thursday.
