Phillip Bruce Melby, 73

Phillip Bruce Melby, 73, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Our House Assisted Living.
He was born June 16, 1942, in Glenwood, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Anna (Brosvig) Melby. A 1961 graduate of Paynesville High School, Phillip worked as a truck driver for the State of Minnesota Highway Department and was a dairy farmer. He served his country with the United State Army Rangers. Phil married Judy (Jackson) Lembke in 1971 in Nebraska. Judy passed away in 1999. He moved to Austin in December 2012. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and trapping. Phil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughter Kelly Beth Meierhofer of Kimball, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Nathan Younkin, Tanner Meierhofer and Breanne Meierhofer; three great-grandchildren; his sister Ellen (Jim) Guenther of Paynesville, Minnesota; niece Lori Scalise of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, nephew Mark Guenther of Paynesville, Minnesota; great nieces and nephews; close friends the Newman and Johnson families of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ole and Anna Melby; and his wife Judy Melby.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Our House Assisted Living commons area in Austin, 1313 15th Ave. NW, with Lt. Laura Amick officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
