Keith Westling, 86

Keith Westling, 86, of Osage, Iowa, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Keith was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mildred (Lewis) Westling. He attended country school in Meroa and Osage Community High School. On May 23, 1954, he married Millie Sampson at Six Mile Grove Church in Lyle, Minnesota. Keith was a farmer, drove gas truck for Merrill Johnson, and was a school bus driver for Osage Community Schools for 10 years. He was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa, where he had previously served as a trustee. Keith enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Keith loved his daughter-in-law, Angel, like a daughter and would listen to her when he wouldn’t listen to anyone else. She was his Angel on earth.
Keith is survived by his wife, Millie Westling of Osage, Iowa; his children: Barb Onken (Rick) of Rudd, Iowa, Karen Dunlay (Bill) of St. Charles, Minnesota, and Jeff Westling (Angel) of Osage, Iowa; grandchildren: Laura Onken Arcenas (Rodney) of Pembrooke Pines, Florida, Melanie Onken of Waterloo, Iowa, Scott Onken of Waterloo, Iowa, Jamie Dunlay (Naomi) of Chester, Minnesota, Cory Dunlay (Kaitlyn Tuohy) of St. Charles, Minnesota, Katie Dunlay (Derek Doane) of Plainview, Minnesota, Jake Westling of Byron, Minnesota, and Alyssa Westling of Osage, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Jade and Jaxson Arcenas of Pembrooke Pines, Florida, Brayden, Holden, Payten, Jamie Jr., and Raylen Dunlay of Chester, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Rockafellow and Gladys Sampson, both of St. Ansgar, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Westling and Mildred Williams; his step-father, Stanley Williams; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Oscar and Rena Sampson; sisters-in-law: Cleo Weness and Enid Patterson; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Weness, Donald Patterson, Russell Sampson, and Dean Rockafellow.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Inurnment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
