A man charged for his alleged role in the large Austin High School fight has now been charged for drug possession.
Willie J.M. Brunt, 27, was arrested Oct. 2 and charged with one count of fifth-degree drug possession and one count of obstructing the legal process by resisting arrest. Brunt got out of jail on bond Oct. 1 after being charged earlier in the day for felony second-degree rioting with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor assault with a dangerous weapon for his role in a Sept. 28 fight at Austin High School, which resulted in 11 arrests.
According to the complaint for the incident on Oct. 2, officers executed a search warrant at Brunt’s home at the 500 block of Second Street Northwest, where they allegedly found 2.51 grams of heroin packed in eight small bags and 24.30 grams of marijuana in the bathroom, along with several small plastic bags in the vicinity of the drugs. Officers also found a digital scale in the bedroom.
When officers tried to detain Brunt, he allegedly attempted to run. He was taken to the floor by officers but continued to resist arrest and was eventually handcuffed and taken to the Mower County Jail.
Along with Brunt, Angel Alicia McCullough, 30, of Austin was also charged Oct. 1 in the AHS riot with felony second-degree rioting with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor assault with a dangerous weapon. Odell Dorrea McCullough, 27, pleaded not guilty Oct. 1 to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and second-degree rioting with a dangerous weapon — both felonies.
Brunt’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15.
