The ghosts and ghouls are coming, but it’s not hard to avoid any tragic frights this Halloween.

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, there’s sure to be no shortage of children and adults enjoying the season this weekend. But that only further emphasizes the need for safety.

Like every year, the kids will be out in costume, but we expect no shortage of adults enjoying holiday parties. That just makes it important that adults don’t drink and drive. And as always, it’s important drivers are extra cautious in watching for children.

Children ware likely to be excited this time of year, so that makes it important for parents or relatives to educate the young ghouls and goblins heading out to trick-or-treat.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety notes that only a third of parents talk to their kids about Halloween safety. That’s alarmingly low, especially when considering DPS also states that twice as many child pedestrians are killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.

Take the time and talk to the kids you care about this year.
