On Saturday afternoon, five Boy Scouts and two adult leaders participated in a service project for the community of Austin.

Seals that say “No Dumping. Drains to River” were put on storm basin drains.

Members of the Order of the Arrow of Boys Scouts partnered with the city of Austin Engineering Department to install 28 markers on storm sewer catch basins along 16th Street Southwest and 19th Avenue Southwest. The markers say “No Dumping. Drains to the River,” and show a fish to remind everyone that what they dump in the street gutter, ends up going to the creeks, rivers and lakes through the storm sewer system.

Order of the Arrow is the national honor society for Boy Scouts. Cheerful service is one of the core missions of the Order of the Arrow.  Giving leadership and service to both Boy Scouts and the community is what Order of the Arrow is all about.
