The No. 7 seeded Austin girls soccer team had its season come to an end when it lost 2-0 at No. 2 St. Peter (14-2-2 overall) in the Section 2A quarterfinals Thursday.
St. Peter took a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half and it iced the game when it connected on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left in the game.
“I’m really proud of my girls,” Austin head coach Enrique Camarena-Corzo said. “They worked hard, they played together and they never gave up. I’m really proud to be their coach.”
The Packers (9-8-1 overall) had their winningest season in at least a decade this year and it will return a strong group of players next year.
“Next year we’re going to come back even harder and hopefully we’ll continue to do a good job,” Camarena-Corzo said. “I want to thank the parents who came all the way to watch us play tonight.”
