A report of a large fight with weapons Saturday morning led officers to hold suspects at gunpoint, but no weapons were ever found at the scene.
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest around 2 a.m. Saturday to an anonymous 911 call of a fight featuring numerous combatants armed with guns and knives, according to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Officers arrived on scene and several vehicles attempted to leave. There were also multiple people running away on foot. Officers held a vehicle at gunpoint until they determined the suspects had no weapons and found out more details of the event.
Both the Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Department responded. Numerous officers drew their service weapons to sort out the details of the event, but there were never any weapons found.
A 16-year-old girl was taken into custody for being a runaway from Albert Lea, and a 21-year-old man from Rochester was cited with disorderly conduct and released.
