Adult volleyball registration opens

Adult volleyball winter league team registration is now open with a deadline of Dec. 10.
You must have your team entry fee of $185, roster with six players ($48) at the time of registration. Leagues will play at Ellis Middle School for 10 weeks. Leagues will be registered with the Minnesota Sports Federation.
Youth wrestling
It is time for youth wrestlers to sign up.
Register at our office for those wrestlers in pre-K through sixth-grade. Wrestling will be Monday and Wednesday evenings in the Austin High wrestling room. Pre-K through second-grade will meet from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and the cost is $30. Grades third through sixth meet from 7 to 8 p.m. and the cost is $50. If you have a third child wrestling, they are free. The participation cost includes a T-shirt and the NYWA membership. Wrestling will not meet on Dec. 23, 30 and Feb. 15.
Under the dome
The dome will be here soon, and we have extended our 7-Man Adult Flag Football deadline to Dec. 2. Do you have your team ready for dome football?
The 7-Man Adult Flag Football will start Dec. 15. Players must be 18 as of June 1, 2015, with a roster limit of 20. Games will not start before 6:30 p.m. There will be one official provided per game. The $417 per team entry is due by Dec. 2, which breaks down to $42 per person on a 10 player roster or $7 per week. League will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and go for six weeks.
Curling
Stop in to Packer Arena on Mondays through Dec. 28 and give curling at try.
You can drop in at 6 p.m. for those 16 years and older, pay $10, learn to throw some stones, gain some strategy of the game and sweep.
Call our office if you have any questions. Wear loose fitting clothes in layers so you can move, gloves, warm socks and clean tennis shoes.
Riverside and Packer Arena
Adult Open Hockey is at Riverside Arena from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23. The cost is $6 per person, you must be at least in high school, no checking, no alcohol and a helmet is required. Goalies are free and must have full gear.
Check out renting a private hour of ice for $130. If you need skates, Packer is the place to go.
Public skating at Packer Arena will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5; 2:45 to 4 p.m. Dec. 26; 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Dec. 11; 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $4 to skate and $1 to rent skates if you need them. Family or single memberships are also available to purchase. The family membership for two is $70 with $5 for additional family members a single is $50.
Youth soccer
Austin Youth Soccer Association will be offering skills camp for students U6 to U9. Cost is $30. Cost for U10/U11 is $75, and they will meet Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. and Saturday’s from 1 to 2 p.m. The dates will be announced as soon as the dome is up.

Baseball under the dome
We have extended our deadline to Dec. 2 for our baseball pitching machine league which will be held in the dome at Wescott Field.
Participants that are 7 and 8 years old will meet early evening on Mondays from Dec. 7 to Jan. 25. Participants ages 9 and 10 will meet early evenings on Tuesdays from Dec. 8 to Jan. 26. We will offer this league to the 11 and 12-year-olds as well with a tentative night being Tuesdays. Class will not meet Dec. 22 through Jan. 2. The cost is $45 per participant; please sign up in the Park and Recreation office.
There are scholarships available to students for activities offered by us or the youth associations that will be held in the dome if you qualify for free and reduced lunch. You must apply for those through the Austin Public Schools Athletic office located in Austin High School.
Jay C. Hormel Nature Center
The next two events at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, with Ken Lonnquist and Friends in concert at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 5, come and enjoy either of the two musical theater performances of Old Befana at 2 or 7 p.m. These programs are free and held in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium. Austin Bruins
The Bruins next home games will be Dec. 4 and 5 hosting Aberdeen. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
