Cheryl Day Smith, 58

Cheryl Day Smith, 58, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2015, at the Hospice of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Cheryl was born Jan. 1, 1957, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth Day in Austin, Minnesota.
She completed two years of college in Minnesota, then graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education with emphasis in Fiber Arts from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She taught art for several years to grade sixth through 12thin Arco, Idaho.
There was never a point in her life that she didn’t do art. She was an accomplished watercolorist and colored pencil artist. She was juried into many art shows and earned many awards. She sold her art in local galleries and art fairs in Idaho Falls.
She joined the Eagle Rock Art Guild in 1999. There she served on the Show’s committee, chaired the spring show for three years, and was on the Board of Directors of the Colored Pencil Society of AmericaDC217 for four years.
Cheryl was married to Ron Smith and lived in the county Rigby. Always loving animals and sharing their life with horses, dogs, cats and later ran an alpaca farm, Paintbrush Alpacas, with an alpaca store. All this even after she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1981. She continued to bravely battle the affects of the disease until her death.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Ron; parents Earl and Elizabeth Day, Austin, Minnesota; brother Loren (Deborah) of Northfield, Minnesota; stepson Travis Smith (Christina); step-grandchildren Lilli, Alissa, Andrew; in-laws June and Ronald Smith, Wendell, Idaho; sister-in-law Vickie Wolf (Roger), Boise, Idaho; nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Idaho.
